In July 1932, American Vogue positioned its initially colour photograph on the duvet with the magazine. The photograph was taken by photographer Edward Jean Steichen and portrayed a woman swimmer holding a Beach front ball from the air.[26] Laird Borrelli notes that Vogue led the decline of vogue illustration within the late 1930s, when it started
